Evaluation task 4

Evaluation task 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Positives:
- Convincing performance shots (including drummer)
- Good settings
- Narrative easy to understand
- Costumes match genre
-Editing matches pace of the song
- Texts matched the lyrics: RELATES TO ANDREW GOODWIN
- Kate's character reminds people of Effy: RELATES BACK TO RESEARCH
- Love v Hate shown between the characters: RELATES TO BINARY OPPOSITIONS LEVI-STRAUSS

Negatives:
- Performance shots from different angles/perspectives: show Aidan's face.

I agree with the audience feedback. From experimenting with different performance shots throughout this process I think the drums really represented the Indie Rock genre. They were inspired by 'Brianstorm' by the Arctic Monkeys. I do agree with the negative point however I feel that after trying straight on filming my artist performed better with a different angle. The angle was inspired by 'Brianstorm' again as through the music video the majority of shots are from behind. Three of the feedbacks I received stood out as they had picked out aspects that link to theories or previous research.

LUCY: "I like that the texts matched the lyrics"
This relates to Andrew Goodwin's code and conventions theory. The visual matches the lyrics. I have applied this theory to a few areas of my music video. For example the part the part that Lucy picked out is the texts being sent between the two characters.

CAROL: Love v Hate
The idea of love v hate relates to Binary Opposites by Levi-Strauss. I can also use:
Man V Women
Lust V Ignore

BEN: Effy- Skins
Before filming I based my female character on Effy from skins. To portray this I found similar clothing to Effy and tried to develop my character in to a form of Effy. This was obviously successful as two of my audience members picked up on it.

If I made this video again I would experiment with different angles and camera positions. Although no one picked up on it I would reshoot the hallway scenes in the narrative because the lighting had a yellow tint.

Final Digipak

My didgipak is based on the Vampire Weekend digipak. I liked how they focused on the girl and didn't have the artists on it. I developed on the Vampire Weekend digipak by making my digipak completely based on the girl in the narrative.

My CD was influenced by a CD for an Arctic Monkeys digipak. I used fishnets as the main image on my CD because they are a continuing theme througout the digipak, poster and music video.

Alterations made along the way

13/12/2012- I was originally going to use the studio in my music video however I do not like the outcome of the shots. I don't think the shots and location fit with my chosen genre.

14/01/2014- My main location was this bedroom. I am not happy with the framing and the mise en scene. After watching some Arctic Monkeys videos I have come up with some new ideas to make my video fit the genre.

20/01/2014- I added extra narrative to show my performer getting ready, texting Kate and leaving his house. This makes more sense when he turns up at her door.

04/02/2014- I changed my peroformance shots to band shots. This suits the genre more and relates back to Brianstorm and Faketales of San Francisco by the Arctic Monkeys. This made my performer more confident because it was more relastic with Molly actually drumming.
